Performing and Recording

2008 – Present: Andy Charles (MD, Guitar, lead vocals and Bass)

I’ve have always performed a wide range of material from Pop, Blues, Rock, Funk, R&B, Jazz, Psychedelic and Folk music. I’ve recorded over 100 videos for my YouTube channel, created my branding and media throughout that time. Currently working on new original music as I’ve stepped down from a few things that have been taking up more of my time.

2017 – Present: FunkFoolery (MD, Guitar and lead vocals)

Party songs, funk, R&B covers band, performing in clubs, pubs and private functions.

2011 – Present: Laurie McVay & the Highrollers (Guitar and backing vocals)

Recorded Albums ‘My Kind of Blues’ and ‘East Side Blues’. 5 Piece band performing Soul, R&B and Blues hybrid music. A mixture of covers and originals written by the band leader Laurie McVay. I recorded all of the guitar across both recordings. We have played festivals including, The Isle of Wight festival, Wolverton Folk and Blues festival, Rhythmtree, Blues Boogaloo and the Bestival.

May 2019 – Dec 2022: Almost 500 shows with The Epic Beatles, The Beatles Invasion and The Beatles Revolution bands aboard Ncl Cruise Ships. (George Harrison: Guitar, lead vocals and backing vocals)

Performing exclusively on NCL ships (The Epic, The Joy, The Encore and The Spirit) 5-7 shows per week in the theatre (With costume changes) and in The Cavern Club aboard the ships. We had to use the exact guitars, wear makeup, use wigs, accents and manerisms to create a likeness of our characters, as well as perform the music to a standard exact to the original recordings.

2015-2017: Superstition Function Band (Guitar, lead and backing vocals)

A party function band, playing in pubs, clubs and private functions. We also played for 8 weeks on the P&O ship ‘Oceana’.

2013 – 2016: Lucid (Guitar and backing vocals)

Recorded Album ‘This Lonely Town’. Original music written by the core 4 members. I was hired to play guitar for their live performances and also record in the studio. We also had an annual open air concert at Rylestone Gardens and a theatre show at Shanklin Theatre, both located on the Isle of Wight.

2012 – 2015: Figjam (Guitar and backing vocals)

Recorded Album ‘Symbiosis’. Original music written by the band leader Nils Mason. We played in pubs, also appearing at the Isle of Wight festival 2017 and recorded an album at Studio Humbug, Isle of Wight. We also recorded a duo acoustic album of versions of his songs that were never released.

2012 – 2013: Sessions (Guitar and backing vocals)

An originals 7 piece band created as part of our BA Hons degree course. We all had a hand in the songs, branding and general running of the group, but most of the material was written by Gareth Ashworth (Guitarist and Singer). We recorded singles and performed in pubs and also at the Bestival in 2013.

2011 – 2013: Have a Cigar (Lead and Backing Vocals. Lead and Rhythm Guitar)

7 piece Pink Floyd Tribute Band playing all eras of Pink Floyds music. We played in pubs with our own ticketed events, and also tribute nights in clubs.

2008 – 2015: Beeno Blues Band (MD, Guitar, lead and backing vocals)

We played a diverse set of blues music and bluesier pop/rock standards in the form of a duo and a trio. Performing in pubs, clubs and private functions.

2008 – 2011: Blue Train Function Band (Guitar, lead and backing vocals)

A party function band, playing a diverse set of pub classics, disco, funk and rock in pubs, clubs and private functions.
